Well done.

This means you have all of the key ingredients to make learning engaging and meaningful with technology.

There are always areas of growth and improvement, so take a read below to continue your great work!
Topic 1 Key Area of Improvement
Digital Pedagogy

Providing engaging and meaningful integration of technology can have many barriers. We are often caught up with all other aspects of our jobs to have time to spend learning new things. A few tips to get started providing more rich learning opportunities are:

Getting to know some easy-to-use digital tools that you/teachers can substitute into everyday lessons.

Take some time to understand different technology pedagogy models to provide more clarity.

Encourage students to help you integrate technology, sometimes they know more than us!

Identify one key area of the digital technology curriculum you’d like to focus on and begin there.

Topic 2 Key Area of Improvement
Leadership

When it comes to technology many teachers are unsure of the why? Students these days get enough screen time and digital use at home and we have other things to focus on at school. Technology leadership is extremely important and to be effective must be a collective effort.

Create and communicate a vision of what effective technology integration looks like

Model good practice of technology with all school stakeholders

Support all stakeholders in better understanding the importance of technology through a range of conversations, briefings, and workshops

Topic 3 Key Area of Improvement
Professional Learning

Time plays a key factor in learning new ways of teaching and learning. When it comes to technology, often just ‘playing around’ with a new tool or device is a great way to feel more comfortable. Targeted professional learning allows teachers and students to feel more supported and willing to learn. Here are a few ideas to get started:

Create a working PLC (Professional Learning Community) to begin to support and change perceptions around technology in the classroom.

Encouragement with incentives, often sweets and coffee is enough.

Create a personalised learning plan for all abilities of teachers.

Look for easy wins by identifying key time savers, or fun ways to use technology and model and share these.

Topic 4 Key Area of Improvement
Innovation

Innovation is an important aspect of growing any digital technology program. As we know technology changes at dramatic rates so the emergence of new technologies is forever present. It is worth mentioning that not all that glitters is gold with technology and often some emerging technologies are more of a hindrance to learning than value add. So here are a few tips to get started to create a culture of innovation in your school.

Encourage teachers to learn new technologies alongside their students, this is an important and meaningful experience for all involved.

Provide dedicated time for yourself, teachers, and students to ‘tinker’ with new technologies.

Join a PLN (professional learning network) such as Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. to connect with other professionals in the industry.

Topic 5 Key Area of Improvement
Available Resources

One of the biggest barriers to the effective use of technology in the classroom is availability and reliability. Often the technology we use is either not working, takes too much time to set up, or is just not the right tool for the job. Being able to manage resources effectively to remove many of these barriers is challenging. Additionally, also finding the right tool and resources that are worth the investment of time and money can be difficult. Here are some tips to help streamline some of these issues.

Simplify your resources so that they can work together. In other words, stick to one main platform or tool. Having too many resources and tools confuses not only teachers but students as well.

Dedicate an allocated budget to sourcing resources, also look at smart options such as leasing and renting for equipment as well as identifying free resources that are often just as good as the paid ones.

Identify how devices are being used, stored, and managed. This may be able to help you to better understand and provide more devices where they are needed the most.

Book a call
Now is your time to take action!
